We at GeoPeak hope that this email finds you well. We have all been affected by the recent storm. Hurricane Sandy caused great damage to our homes and our towns all across the state. Those on the shore as well as low lying areas have especially been hit hard. Our thoughts go out to everyone. We want you to know we are ready to help; if you have any questions regarding your solar electric system or need assistance please do not hesitate to give us a call. Our customer service department and staff are ready to assist you.
We would like you to take certain precautions.
1. We recommend you visually inspect your system. Just as many of you may have experienced roof damage either by wind or falling limbs and tree some solar systems may have been damaged by the hurricane. You should take pictures and note any damage you see to the system. Inspect your system at a distance. Do not attempt to clear debris yourself. Please let us know if there is any visible damage to your system.
2. Many of you are without power at this time and therefore your solar electric system is not operating. Please note that in compliance with National Electrical Code regulations, many inverters and PV systems automatically shut themselves down whenever power on the utility grid is not present. Your system should automatically turn on when power is restored.
3. When power is restored, check your inverters to see if they restart properly. Even with power restored the solar panels also require exposure to sunlight to power up the inverters. If you system does not power up please note the codes on the inverter and give us a call for technical assistance. You may also consult your SunPower Operations and Maintenance manual.
As always, if you judge the situation to be an emergency for whatever reason call 911 before taking any other action.
