Geopeak Energy Landfill Solar Project -Princeton & Stony Brook Sewerage Authority

The Stony Brook Regional Sewerage Authority (SBRSA) will receive nearly 25% of its energy from the 8,800 solar panels, expected to produce 3,600 000 kWh annually of clean renewable energy, that are installed at Princeton’s closed landfill off River Road.

Princeton's council and SBRSA selected GeoPeak Energy to finance, build and operate the solar facility. Princeton’s project evaluation team concurred that GeoPeak Energy had assembled a quality project team with the experience and technical capability to work as a partner with Princeton and SBRSA to successfully implement its solar initiative.

GeoPeak Energy designed and developed this project from initial bid to receiving all approvals until completion. The project is structured where Princeton is leasing the land for 15 years and the Sewerage Authority uses the clean energy generated by the solar array for its day to day operations.

“Princeton turned to GeoPeak Energy as its contractor to develop and complete this solar project,” said AJ Javan, managing partner of GeoPeak Energy.“We were able to maximize the solaron the closed landfill to produce nearly three times the energy than the 1 Megawatt (MWp) bid package we received, for a final completed project size of 3 MWp.
